To help us explore the concept of food censorship in the media today, journalist Jane Akre gave a presentation by video at NESAWG’s 2014 It Takes a Region conference.  She reflected on her 1997 investigative report about concerns over recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH) in milk.  Due to pressure from rBGH’s manufacturer, Monsanto, the TV station she worked for, a Fox News affiliate, pulled the story just before broadcast.  Jane and her partner were subsequently fired.
