The Hudson Valley Farm Hub is now accepting applications for the Farm Hub’s Professional Farmer Training (ProFarmer) Program.  ProFarmer is a multi-year, residential training program for those with farming experience who aspire to obtain farm management positions or to own and operate their own farm enterprises in the Hudson Valley.

This full-time, year-round program presents a unique opportunity for farmers to work in a robust learning environment under the mentorship of the Farm Hub’s management team.  Through both classroom education and on-the-job training, trainees will gain high quality technical skills, knowledge of the Hudson Valley food system, leadership and communication skills, business expertise, and deep experience with ecologically regenerative farming practices.

The ProFarmer mission-aligned curriculum is built around the Farm Hub’s vision for a resilient and equitable food system in the Hudson Valley.  Training and coursework are designed across multiple categories such as:

• Crop planning and production
• Marketing, sales and value chain development
• Human development, leadership and management
• Budget, finance, and enterprise development

The program will accept 3-5 highly dedicated individuals for its inaugural class of trainees to begin in April 2016.  The ideal candidates will, among other qualifications, demonstrate a commitment to collaborative processes and enthusiasm for the Farm Hub’s emphasis on equity, regenerative agriculture, and social entrepreneurship.

ProFarmer trainees are expected to make a multi-year commitment to the program through which they are eligible for compensation and on-farm housing.
