Objective of the Position / Key Job Responsibilities: – Manage the sales of Shelburne Farms cheese and farm products while enhancing the mission of Shelburne Farms. – Grow sales and distribution within Vermont, New England, and the Mid-Atlantic region.
– Work cooperatively with the Communications team to market the Farm’s products in a manner consistent with other initiatives.
Essential Functions: Duties and Responsibilities – Supervise Farm Products Sales Coordinator; Share in the supervision of seasonal holiday staff during November and December – Support a continuous effort to foster a culturally aware learning community, open to multiple perspectives. – Supervise staff in a positive and supportive manner – Work cooperatively with the Cheese Operations Manager, Head Cheesemaker, and Communications team – Oversee products that we produce or resell, including pricing and distribution recommendations to the CFO – Wholesale/distributor cheese business + Provide Farm support to local retailers including our Welcome Center + Recommend and execute new and existing account strategy + Coordinate sales and OOP production projections – Mail Order business + Serve on catalog design team + Emphasize Shelburne Farms’ mission, and cross-market all functions + Provide performance analysis across all catalog products and make product recommendations – Manage software systems and databases + Oversee on-line store + Utilize av ailable tools to minimize administration + Develop appropriate levels of contact and minimize our footprint – Major holiday gift business: Market, execute, and thank – Forecast and purchase non-cheese mail order inventory – Budget preparation and cost control; collaborate with Accounting on key performance indicators and – Inventory management
– Potential to work in cheese making and processing up to two days a month
Physical Factors/Working Conditions – Typically M-F 45 hours a week; occasional weekends and evenings; six days a week with longer hours from mid-November through December; some travel required throughout the year.
– Frequently move across the Farm’s campus in non-climate controlled spaces; climb and descend stairs frequently; attend farmers’ markets and festivals in outdoor weather conditions
Qualifications & Requirements – Familiar with Food Safety requirements of the FDA – Experienced in MS Office Tools – Sales experience in the food industry, with a firm understanding of the value of locally produced food
