2017 Farming Our Future Conference | NESAWG

The 4th Farming Our Future conference will be held once again at Taconic Hills Central School on February 25.  The conference will once again bring together a diverse audience from the community including; established farmers, beginning farmers, interested non-farmers, suppliers, educators, community leaders, industry leaders and students. 

The morning will begin at 8am with registration and light breakfast provided.  Prior to the general session starting at 9:00 A.M. conference participants will have an opportunity to network with fellow conference attendees and exhibitors.

After announcements at 9:00 A.M., Brian Donahue will be the keynote speaker.   Brian Donahue is Associate Professor of American Environmental Studies at Brandeis University, and Environmental Historian at Harvard Forest.  He teaches courses on environmental history and sustainable farming and forestry, and chairs the Environmental Studies Program.   Brian’s keynote address is entitled Wildlands, Woodlands, Farmlands, and Communities: Envisioning New England and the Northeast.”

Following Brian’s keynote address, a panel discussion will take place.  On the panel will be the keynote speaker, Brian Donahue, Amy Klein, of Capital Roots, and Jesse Tolz, of Field Goods.   Brian, Amy and Jesse will bring their perspectives on ways that nutritious food can be obtained in various places they serve. 

Following the panel discussion, participants will have the opportunity to participate in one of the various workshops planned for the day.   The day will culminate with lunch and an opportunity for participants to network with each other and exhibitors.

Registration cost is $20 per adult and $10 for students with ID.
